About a week ago myself and the editor of Arts & Culture, Drew Anderson, headed down to the Glenbow for a quick interview and photo shoot with the amazing Canadian artist, Kent Monkman.
His work is based around shaking the foundation of classical colonial paintings and the their depictions of Aboriginal People.
Painting broad sweeping landscapes and individual portraits in the style of George Caitlin and Paul Kane, he aims to change the perspective in which viewers see both his work and the works they are based off of.
A selection of his work will be featured at the Glenbow Museum from now until April 25th, 2010.
You can see this cover shot and read all about Kent in this weeks issue of FFwd, on stands now. Or, of course, online right here.
