This is Darren Ollinger, owner and one the founders of The New Black Centre for Music and Arts in Inglewood.
And this is Jay Sinclair, a sound technician, teacher, youth music organizer and musician. Among many other things.
The New Black Centre is celebrating its second year in operation. As one of the only all ages venues in the city of Calgary, it’s quite a feat for them to make it this far.
They also offer a free drop in music program for youth supported by the City of Calgary, where students learn how to handle every facet of music production. From performing, to recording, to producing and everything in between. At the end of the semester, the students record their own record, which is pretty awesome in my opinion.
