23 local Alberta based Etsy artists got to explore and experience the wonders of the Glenbow archives (which were still as incredible as the last time I was there) and, after finding a piece that inspired them, created a series of items for the Glenbow Gift Shop. I got to tag along to document the experience.
After a design proposal and juried selection, 14 final artists were then given a month and a half to create their pieces which culminated to a launch party this past week in the gift shop and lobby.
You can check out more of the images from both the tour and the launch party here, see more of the final items over at the Glenbow's site here , check out Etsy Calgary for info on upcoming markets in the city (and Etsy Canada for the rest of the country) and of course, drop by the Gift Shop to grab one of the unique creations.
Had the wonderful opportunity of capturing the Calgary Heritage Authority's (from this project last year) biennial Lion Awards.
From the City of Calgary site :
The biennial Calgary Heritage Authority Lion Awards recognize individuals and organizations who have undertaken initiatives, of any scale, in support of heritage conservation in Calgary.
You can read more about the Lion Awards here, or check out the CHA here.
